Symptoms of Depression
Depression is mood disorder following by persistently low mood and a feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. It causes feeling of sadness, feeling down, having a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities. Prolonged depressions can lead to chronic depression (dysthymia) which can affect your health and well being.
In order to deal with depression, we need to identify whether we have the symptoms directly or indirectly that can be linked to this disease. Depression is usually related with your current mood and has three types; mild, moderate or severe. There are several symptoms of depression you might not aware.
- Physical pain
Experiencing pain in certain parts of your body can be a sign of having a depression. Back pain, joint pain, and limb pain are all symptoms of depression and can result in chronic pain if left untreated. Studies show that the link between pain and depression is a shared
neurologic pathway, and that the worse the painful physical symptoms,
the more severe the depression.
- Rapid weight change
- Sudden change sleep pattern
- Having negative thoughts
'It’s my fault.'
'Nothing good ever happens to me.'
'I’m worthless.'
'Life’s not worth living.'
'People would be better off without me.'
These words might be ringing to your ears all the time.
- Difficulty in making decision
- Loss of energy
- Reckless behavior
You repeatedly going over the limit in almost any
activity. Doing risky or hurtful things to yourself or others.You engage in escapist behavior such as substance abuse, compulsive gambling, reckless driving, or dangerous sports.
